This allows digital objects to be seamlessly integrated into the real environment, which is particularly valuable for educational and training scenarios. What is surprising is that the See-through quality of the Quest 3 is even better than that of the more expensive model, the Quest Pro. This provides a clearer and more realistic representation of the real environment and thus increases the immersive experience.
Although the Quest 3 offers many improvements, the Price point a factor that could be a hurdle for some users, especially when compared to cheaper alternatives such as the Pico 4. In addition, utilizing the full potential of the device often requires access to the Meta ecosystemwhich can raise data protection concerns and result in dependence on a specific platform.
Overall, the Meta Quest 3 is a cutting-edge choice for VR enthusiasts looking for a blend of performance, ease of use and advanced features. It is in direct competition with the Vive XR Elite and the Meta Quest Proby offering a balance between quality and accessibility. The Vive XR Elite is a lightweight and small VR headset that impresses with its form factor. Thanks to modern pancake lenses, the face part of the Vive XR is significantly smaller than all other headsets in its class. It is the only one with a dioptric adjustment option for both eyes. Furthermore, HTC Vive relies on a modular concept, which allows owners of a Vive to connect additional accessories to the glasses to expand their sensor technology. Thus, facetracking and eyetracking modules can be added via accessories.
HTC will launch another external tracker in the next few months, which should be especially interesting for business applications. This will allow us to add trackers to real objects and make them visible in the virtual world. Until now, additional trackers were only possible with Vivetrackers, which could only be tracked in conjunction with at least two Lighthouses that had to be attached to tripods. Another plus: the battery of the Vive XR Elite can be removed and replaced. The device is priced at €1,399.00.
