EYE LOOK!

Design4real developed this VR workshop application with participation of social minorities. Through interactive VR scenarios empathy of the user grows.

Overview:

The project "AugenBLICK mal!" is an innovative virtual reality application that was developed to create sensitivity for discrimination and to reduce prejudices. With real discrimination scenarios, the app enables participants to immerse themselves in the perspective of those affected and to experience their experiences intensively. The goal is to build empathy, create understanding and combat discrimination. The project is based on many years of experience in the field of anti-discrimination work and was developed in cooperation with BrückenBauen and the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees.

Challenge:

One of the biggest challenges in the fight against discrimination is to raise awareness of the diversity of experiences of discrimination and to break down prejudices. It is difficult to get people to put themselves in the shoes of those affected and understand their perspective. Traditional learning methods often reach their limits in this regard, as they cannot sufficiently convey the emotional component and the direct experience.

Solution:

"AugenBLICK mal!" offers an innovative solution by combining virtual reality technology with a blended learning methodology. By immersing themselves in real-life discrimination scenarios, participant:s can have an intense and emotional experience. They can shift perspectives, build empathy, and develop a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by those affected. The app makes it possible to question prejudices and break down discriminatory thought patterns.

Software we used for this purpose:

iClone, CharacterCreator, 3DsMax, UnrealEngine, Rokkoko Studio

Results:

The project has already achieved impressive results. Participants, whether in schools, organizations, or companies, report increased sensitivity to discrimination, a reduction in prejudice, and increased empathy for those affected. Through the immersive experience of the virtual scenarios, discussions are stimulated, awareness is raised, and positive changes in diversity and inclusion are achieved. The flexible and customizable blended learning methodology provides room for further development and specific adaptations to different target groups and needs. "AugenBLICK mal!" thus contributes significantly to the promotion of equal opportunities and the fight against discrimination.
