Apple Vision Pro EYEsight: An overview<\/h2>

EYEsight<\/b> is one of the most striking features of the Apple Vision Pro. But what exactly is behind it?<\/p>

How EYEsight works<\/h2>

EYEsight is basically a front-facing display that allows viewers and the environment to see the eyes of the wearer of the Apple Vision Pro. However, this is not a real glass through which you could see the eyes. Instead, the user's eyes are recorded by a camera and projected onto the outward-facing display.<\/p>

The idea behind this is that the environment can recognize whether the wearer of the Apple Vision Pro is paying attention to their surroundings or not. When the user is in a complete virtual reality (VR)<\/b> and is therefore unaware of his surroundings, a blue, blurred graphic is shown on the display. This signals to the environment that the wearer is currently not paying attention to their surroundings.<\/p>

EYEsight uses a high-resolution OLED display<\/b>which enables a clear and vivid representation of the user's eyes. The resolution and color accuracy are tuned to provide the most natural display possible.<\/p>

Despite this interesting idea, there are many critical voices regarding its implementation. One major point of criticism is the additional weight caused by the front-facing display. In contrast to other headsets, which often have a simple plastic casing, the Apple Vision Pro has a glass display, which significantly increases the weight. Many users find this uncomfortable.<\/p>

Another point of criticism is the depiction of the eyes. This often appears unnatural, which has led to the EYEsight feature being described as ridiculous and alienating in many posts and YouTube videos. Whether EYEsight is really as innovative and ground-breaking a feature as Apple makes it out to be remains questionable. Meta, for example, has dispensed with a similar feature in the Quest 3, as it requires additional energy and increases the weight of the glasses.<\/p>
